What is a Marine Drone

Marine Drone is a water drone equipped with a patented “water surveillance system” that combines remote control and automatic operation through radio control of watercraft and small vessels. Images from cameras mounted on marine drones, monitors, etc. can be projected onto FPV (First Person View) goggles and operated by a controller connected to the marine drone.

Monitoring and control in the seafood industry has many limitations and risks compared to traditional methods. However, this technology enables small vessels to be radio-controlled, allowing fisheries personnel to conduct real-time monitoring from remote locations.

In addition, effective monitoring can be carried out even at night or in bad weather, and operations such as poaching monitoring and aquaculture management can be carried out smoothly.

By incorporating an autopilot function, unmanned maritime drones are possible. This will make it possible to patrol aquaculture ponds, supply feed and automate marine logistics, thereby reducing labor and increasing operational efficiency. Because it can navigate automatically even in bad weather, it is said to minimize logistical delays and provide timely service.

Whae is the significance of Marine Drone

This patented technology not only brings new business opportunities to the seafood industry, but also has the potential to expand to other industries and applications such as tourism and environmental protection. In tourism, marine drones will be used as a new tool to provide a safe and enjoyable experience by applying them to lifeguards. In addition, in environmental protection activities, autopilot technology can be applied to collect marine litter, monitor marine ecosystems and contribute to the protection of the marine environment.

JMA hopes to promote the entry of marine drones into the fishing industry by making them widely known and demonstrating specific uses. We will continue to develop and propose new technologies that will contribute to the development of fisheries and the realization of sustainable marine activities.
