Gain Real-Life Drone Racing Professional Status by Winning the DRL SIM Tryouts

This is your chance to reach your goals if you’ve always wanted to compete in FPV drone races. Tryouts are now being held on DRL’s drone racing simulator, the DRL SIM, the world’s top drone racing arena.

If you can outperform the opposition, you might be offered a deal with DRL to serve as the official DRL SIM Pilot for the 2023–24 DRL Algorand World Championship Season.

If you succeed in the simulator, you might be offered a genuine contract to race drones professionally.

HOW THE DRL SIM TRYOUTS WORK

Beginning with a Qualifier Circuit, the tryouts will only include 64 racing pilots who will compete for the DRL contract.

The 64 pilots will participate in a series of esports tournaments until just one is declared the champion and receives the DRL contract.

The schedule for the DRL SIM Tryouts is as follows:

Sign up first for the DRL SIM tryouts.

Here are the crucial competition dates after you’ve registered:

  • Circuit of the qualifiers, July 3–10. Set the fastest time possible in the DRL SIM to advance to the following round of 64 pilots. (The competition begins on July 3 at 10 AM EST and ends on July 10 at 12 PM EST.)
  • 11–12 July: Stage 1. A smaller set of pilots will emerge from four esports competitions.
  • 13 July: Stage 2. The field of pilots will be further reduced by two more esports competitions, leaving the finalists to battle for the contract.
  • Grand Final on July 14. The winner is decided in a final race!

The timetable is extremely taxing, as you can see.

However, if drone racing is your passion and you’ve been seeking for a chance to make it big and go pro, this competition is a fantastic chance to launch you into a job offer.

HOW TO PREPARE

You’d better start exercising. Start putting in the hours and downloading the DRL SIM right away so you’ll be prepared when the Qualifiers Circuit starts on July 3 at 10AM EST.

The Qualifiers Circuit is accessible seven days a week. You have until July 10 at 12 PM EST to complete your qualification race if you need a little more time to get acclimated to DRL’s simulator.

ALGORAND WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON, COMING SOON

The 2022–23 DRL season began last year with the announcement of a cooperation with Google Cloud, which was reflected in the race’s name, the DRL Race in the Cloud.

Due to the collaboration, developers were allowed to participate in the Google Cloud Fly Cup Challenge, a contest designed to promote cloud expertise and spur innovation in drone racing.

In order to forecast race results and provide DRL pilots with advice on how to perform better during the season, developers collected data from actual DRL races.

The Miami 3-0-FLY championship race held at LoanDepot Park was an outstanding race for the year. The LoanDepot baseball stadium was converted into a neon-hued aerial racetrack for that competition.
