In the World Drone Competition, the 2023 Executive Committee and the Advanced Robotics Foundation (ARF) won the championship by completing all the assigned tasks and obtaining the highest scores in all four events for the teams, two domestic teams and two overseas teams.
This year’s Global Drone Competition is based on the premise of drone operations in the event of a disaster, assuming that the Yokohama City Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters dispatches a drone rescue team to a disaster that occurs in the vicinity of Tomitsuko-ko Park in Chiba Prefecture. . After flying 16 kilometres over Tokyo Bay from Yokohama’s Hakkeijima Island to arrive at Tomitsuko-ko Park, about 300 grams of therapeutic drugs were dropped at a drop site set up by a local medical institution in the park, and messages written on the ground by victims of the disaster The main task was to decipher and return, competing in the accuracy of the location of the drop, the accuracy of the deciphered messages from the victims, and the timeliness of the mission.
Aerosense and Kobe University’s vertical take-off and landing drone “Aero Bowing” took off from Yokohama Hakkeijima at 9:08 a.m. and flew 16 kilometres autonomously in 12 minutes to reach Tomitsuko-ko Park, where it hovered over the park. I checked the landing site and drew pictures on the ground with a board camera. After adjusting the dropping position by remote control, the yo-yo dropper slowed down the dropping of supplies from a height of 30m and landed on the ground. All tasks were completed in approximately 31 minutes without recharging and the following seven judgements scored the highest total of all four teams in the post-flight evaluation.
